Wish I was more adventerous
May 11 2007, 5:12 PM EDT | Post edited: May 11 2007, 5:12 PM EDT
I'm not a very daring individual, so I guess I'm currently just living vicariously through the other racers. I would really like to be on the show though. Now, I just need a partner. There have been husband/wife teams, dating couples, friends, life partners, etc.......anyone think of a race combo that hasn't been done yet? 4  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

My former co-worker and I "planned" our team for the race... it definitely helped bring us closer together, and also gave us a chance to keep up with the show together as well as get us through some tough days! We both dreamt of the escape ( and of buying rugs in Morocco...okay, that was my fixation. But oh, dreams (and laughs!) are good! Thank goodness for this show. It makes a Sunday night so much more interesting that even the thought that it'll soon be Monday wasn't that bad. But still... bring back Chip and Kim! Do you find this valuable?

How about... (as voted on by colleagues)- two co-workers who definitely do not get along...yet? A boss and employee, for example. Or, maybe two people who don't even know each other but are nominated by mutual friends? Talk about the ultimate crash-course in getting closer... Do you find this valuable?

Thanks for your thoughts! Although, of course, it could be "blind-date-scary", some of my closest friends are people I've met by working with them; you really find out about them and what you can do to support them or just become friends. At any rate, I think the Race IS amazing and in order to stay interesting, will need more & different combinations of teams, as you said. Take care. Do you find this valuable?

Here's a thought.....you and I on the race. Two bloggers from the Amazing Race web site; meeting for the first time and the only thing they know for sure they have in common is the Race itself! Do you find this valuable?

I like your thought! Of course, ( maybe not the "typical" reaction, mine was- ... great thought! Help! Now I will need to get into the greatest physical condition!) Not TOO much thinking into the future... but at any rate, your thought is intriguiging to me. Life is supposed to be about risks and also about fun and always, about the chance to learn and experience something new; with a supportive partner/friend it would be awesome- certainly be that once in a lifetime experience... and we could very possibly help each other do it!
I'd like to kep talking...unfortunately I will be away from computer access until Tuesday night, but I hope to hear from you again.

Well, I hope you were away from the computer because you were taking advantage of the nice long holiday weekend. I too will need to get into better shape and learn to eat tons of something disgusting just in case!!! (I'm a very picky eater!) I mean really, what's the worse thing that could happen, we decide we can't stand each other and never talk again?? We didn't know each other prior to the race and I doubt that it would be that big of a deal to not know each other after the race and who knows, we may be millionaires who don't like each other!!! (haha). At the very least, I would think the media would pounce on us and we'd get lots of PR. Do you find this valuable?

Hey... even if you and I are a "fantasy" race partner-possibility, I need you to stay positive! You already sound quite adventurous. And- you can spell, and write! Somehow, these things have become important to me; I guess I am somewhat judgmental. (See, we can already handle this part of communication). Do you think you could be "smart"/argumentative with airline ticket clerks? (Usually at closed airports!!) I tend to be more soft/sensitive, but I can fight for my life if something important is on the line!! (or, if someone I don't like is being sly or shady. Why would we not like each other as people? Don't psych yourself out- I suppose anything is possible but we could also become "amazing race" friends even by fantasy-planning the possibility. I know I certainly look forward to your replies more than most of the other e-mail I usually get. So let's have fun. And, thanks for your replies. They've been fun to come home to. (By the way, at this very moment I only have access to a computer between Tues- Fri- hopefully that will change soon; I'm trying to get a laptop.) So if you want, stay in touch. Worst case scenario for me- you'll be on the race with someone else and I will be cheering my heart out for you!

P.S.- I loved your comment about the digusting food- what was the worst you remember? I seem to be stuck on kielbasa (yuck, but I could do it), tons of cookies (bad choice)... but I know there's been worse. Anything with eyeballs?? Sorry to be gross, but I need to know. I can swim with the fish, but I 'd have more of a problem eating them. Unless, of course, adrenaline kicked in. Here's hoping.

How about a sibling? It's been done before. I would dearly love to apply for the show but I am not an American citizen though I could apply for the Asian edition with my brother. While you are looking for your teamate why not do some of the things the racers have done so far instead of living vicariously? On my travels my brother I have bungy jumped and did the SkyJump in Macau, snorkelled in Vietnam and Thailand and learned how to ski in one day in Canada and missed the trains in Italy that way you can prepare yourself physically and mentally should you apply and get accepted on the race. Oh and I'm told you need a good audition tape with the all important rule to be yourself. Yes, my borther and I bickered a lot on our travels too. So Amazing Race, huh? :) Good luck. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Ahh...I wasn't trying to be negative. I think that we'd probably become pretty good friends actually. I was just throwing out the worst case scenario option. I think I could be assertive with the airline employees and I'm cute too (or so I'm told) and know how to flirt, so that can't hurt!!!!!!

As for the most disgusting thing I remember them having to eat on the Amazing Race, I'd don't really remember disgusting so much as it's always a lot. Like the 4 pounds of weird meat when Rob and Amber chose not to participate in the road block and then talked others into doing the same thing so that they were guaranteed to have some teams behind them even after their time penalty. Or the really hot, spicy soup on one of the recent seasons (sorry, can't remember exactly which one). Or how about when the Hippies did the fast forward and had to eat all of those crickets or grasshoppers or whatever they were. It's stuff that you and I would be turned off by, obviously, but there's always so much of it you have to eat.

I can eat fish and even sushi. I can swim too. Heights might be a bit of a problem for me, but it's a million bucks, so...... I am always amazed at how well the most seemingly ordinary people do the most amazing things. Like team Kentucky or the Bowling Moms. I see them and think, yeah, maybe there is hope for me!
