I Will Start From 12th, Then Go To 11th, 10th, 9th ect.
*Note- Kami & Karli Will Not Be Included

In Each Category 3 Teams (except in 12) Will Advance

And The Rest Will Be Eliminated.

Then The Remaining 3 Teams Will Go Against Each Other
If There Is A Tie For 3rd Place There Will Be A Top 4.

And There Will Be One Winner For Each Placing.

Hey, TAR Fans!

The UI shifts of Wetpaint's recent release are significant enough that I wanted to provide an overview page as a reference for familiarizing yourself with the new allocation of your favorite wiki tools and features. And, to introduce some new ones that are pretty cool!

Horizontal Navigation Bar:
To provide a wider WYSIWYG editing area, the tools and functions formerly located in the right column have been reallocated as follows:

1 Personal Toolbox: The personal toolbox (where you access your profile, messages, etc.) has been relocated to a new global navigation bar across the top of the page. Just click the ‘My Profile’ link to access your messages or to go directly to your profile page.

2 Page Toolbox: The wiki page tools (edit page, add tags, add To-Dos, manage page, etc.) are now aligned horizontally across the top of each wiki page. You'll see the Add page option below the navigation menu.

3 Recent Site Activity module: The Recent Activity module has been removed from the home page and replaced by the new and vastly improved What’s New site area. You'll see the access point to it in the horizontal bar above the navigation menu.

3 What’s New:
This new activity dashboard contains site-wide notifications on changes to pages and threads. Additionally it includes notification of a number of community-oriented changes such as friend connections, the sending of compliments, and new members.

4 Site Members Page Redesign:
The Site Members area, accessible from the Members link in the horizontal menu, has received a facelift, and now provides easy ways to filter members by role or friends. You can also sort (yes, sort!) the member lists by the number of page edits and threads they’ve made as well as by their join date, most recent activity, and username.

5 Promote My Site (only available to moderators and administrators):
This new section includes a handful of features, tips, and data on how to drive contribution and more traffic to the site.

Question 1. How do I apply to be on the Amazing Race?

Applications for The Amazing Race are due Applications must be received by Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 5 p.m. PST. See the CBS application page for more information.

Question 2. Can I submit my application to you?

Sorry, but we do not accept applications for the race. While we develop this wiki for CBS and The Amazing Race we are in no way affiliated with the people who produce the show. We have absolutely no influence on show decisions. Your best source is to see CBS.com for more information on applying to any of your favorite CBS reality shows.

Question 3. Where can I see missed episodes online?

At this time, CBS has not chosen to make Amazing Race episodes available on their website. However, that could change if you request them to make them available. We also suggest reviewing the recaps here on the wiki and you might be able to see clips on video websites like YouTube. Even better, make a friend that loves Amazing Race like you do and has a TiVo. Then you'll always have a backup plan if you miss an episode. If you'd like to watch past seasons, you can buy Season 1 and Season 7 on DVD. I'd also check your local tv listings to see if any stations have picked up old episodes on syndication. Game show network shows old episodes at 2 or 3 in the morning. Also, Fox reality shows past seasons with commentary by the racers. They just finished all stars and season 9 and are now doing season 10. Dancequeen117x has been putting up videos from season 7 and will continue to do so for all the seasons eventually. Just check out the Amazing Race Videos page.

Question 4. Who travels with each team?

Cameramen and maybe other staff.

Question 5. What does Phil Keoghan do during each leg?

Question 6. If a team is penalized without any just cause, is the 30-minute, 4-hour or 24-hour penalty dismissed, or does that team return next season due to a technical error? What happens next?

Question 7. Is there a right or wrong way to perform a Roadblock, Detour or Fast Forward stunt so as not to be penalized?

Question 8. What really happens to a player or team when he/she commits an assault on producers, host or other teams? Is that team escorted off race premises due to a misconduct? ...obscene/profane language?

Unwritten Rules

This page was created to record all the rules that are mentioned on The Amazing Race, but are not written anywhere. Let's start collecting them here:

Overspeeding: If a team speeds while driving a car, they will receive a time penalty. (I think this one is specified, esp. if it is mandated by local laws or if it is deemed unsafe to do so.)

Both Members: When getting a clue (either from a clue box or after a Road Block/Detour), both members of the team must be present in order to open the next clue. (NOTE: We know BOTH have to be "present," but "standing next to each other & both reading the clue" is NOT necessarily required, it seems! We all have seen that, at times, while one reads the clue, the other is a few feet away in the water, in the boat, getting out of a wetsuit, taking off some kind of gear, etc... On the other hand, it seems that the partner's "presence" doesn't seem to be required, either. On TAR 6, Leg 9, when the teams were in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Kris & Victoria did the RB for their teams--matching a pendant with one that a worshipper had. When they found the match to their pendants & received their clues, they opened them right then & there, not waiting to get back to their partners, Jon & Jonathan.)

Clues:
A. In order to check-in at the pit-stop, the team must have in its possession all the clues that have been given to them during the leg of the race. If they don't, they must retrieve the missing clue before checking-in. (NOTE: I'm not sure this is required. Case in point, TAR 1, Leg 10 - Because of the Hours of Operation, Kevin & Drew had to stay the night at "Sea, Land and Trek" when they were in Thailand. It was raining hard, and, when they got there, they saw 2 soaking-wet Route Marker envelopes in the trash. From that, they knew they were in 3rd place at that point. In TAR 2, Leg 13 - Tara & Wil lost their clue in HI & they didn't know exactly where they had to go once they got to AK. They just remembered "Rust's something" & told their pilot to follow Chris & Alex's plane. In TAR 8, Leg 1 - Mrs. Paolo lost their clue when they left Belmont Plateau in PA where teams spent the night in tents.)

I think Phil makes the teams "go back & get the clue" they missed because, most likely, it's a requirement that they "see & read" it. If they lose it later, it doesn't seem to matter anymore.

B. Each team is allowed only one Clue per Route Marker. Otherwise, they will incur a 30-minute time penalty. (Ex.: TAR 6, Leg 2 - Freddy lost their clue, then, went back to the box & took another one.)

Road Block:
A. Upon getting the envelope, a question or a statement gives the team a hint as to what the task will be. They, then, must decide who will be doing the Road Block before opening the clue to see what exactly they have to do. Once they have decided, they cannot change their mind -- the chosen person has to do the task, or the team will receive a 4-hour time penalty. However, the clock will not start until the next team arrives. (Ex.: TAR 7, Leg 3 - When Rob quit the 4-lb "cow meal," his clock didn't start until Ray & Deana arrived; and, Deana's & Meredith's clocks didn't start until Susan & Patrick arrived.)

B. When a teammate is doing the Road Block, his/her partner is "NOT allowed to talk to them," meaning, "coach." Ordinary "talking" & cheering on is
allowed, naturally, but NOT coaching! (Ex: TARAS, Leg 4 - Charla pointed out to Mirna "those two white ones in the front" referring to the envelopes at the P.O.. Rob reminded Charla of this rule &, at the pit stop, he pointed this out to Phil. C&M were not penalized, however.)

C. If a team quits a roablock task (or,consciously "choose not to do" one) they will recieve a 4-hour penalty.
(Ex: TARA 1, Leg 3 - 5 teams could not find the wooden surfboard in the sand and they all quit the roadblock)

Detour: If teams quit a Detour task (or, consciously "choose not to do" one), they will receive a 24-hour penalty. So far, only one team has ever "chosen not to do a Detour task." (Ex: TAR 1, Leg 9 - Nancy & Emily gave up looking for a van after 2 hours & went straight to the RB. At the pit stop, they were eliminated after Joe & Bill arrived! They technically arrived in 4th place and J&B arrived in 5th. J&B were supposed to be eliminated, but because of N&E's 24-hour penalty, J&B were told they were "still in the race," while N&E were being sent home. J&B were both SHOCKED, thinking they were already "goners.")

Hindering or Impeding: No person or team is allowed to get in the way or prevent other teams from proceeding with what they have to do in the Race, except when choosing to use the Yield on them, which is part of the game. Otherwise, a 30-minute time penalty will be imposed. (Ex.: TAR 6, Leg 2 - After the Detour, Don & Mary Jean drove off in Adam & Rebecca's van by mistake, on their way to the Pit Stop. When they realized this, they went back and gave it back to A&R, but they still incurred the 30-min. penalty.)

Getting to a Pit Stop or a Clue Box: If a clue says to "walk" or to "take a bus" or any other specific transportation to any clue box, detour, road block or pit stop, the team must use this specific mode of transportation or they will incur a 30-minute penalty + the exact time gained. (Ex: TAR3, Leg 4 - Heather & Eve took a cab to the Pit Stop & gained 7 mins = got a 37-min penalty; TAR4, Leg 11- Reichen & Chip drove to the Pit Stop & gained 5 mins = got a 35-min penalty.)

The "Real" Rules

These are rules of the racers. Not official rules by any stretch, but instead, things they should do, could do, shouldn't do, and wouldn't do. Feel free to add more!

1) Other Teams- Feel free to make friends with them, interact with them, and be generally polite when not racing. But please remember DO NOT TRUST THEM. They are not your "alliance" by any stretch of the imagination, instead they are simply waiting for you to drag them along while you do the work and then jump at the first opportunity to screw you over.

2) Emotions- Please, let's all remember this is a race. Any insult or pass on the road is usually not personal, but instead, is said in the heat of the competition and should not be taken seriously. Try to forget it and move on, there may be a point when you need them later.

3) Partners- Respect them. Treat them with respect, as you all know this is a highly stressful situation, bringing out the best in some people and the worst in others. You need them and they need you, so shouting at them is not the best way to tell them you appreciate them for the hard work they are doing for your team. It also reflects badly on you as a person to take out your frustrations on the one person you really, really need on your side.

4) Read all clues- Re-read them if necessary. If you don't know what you are doing follow another team. Follow what they tell you to do. If it says take a train to the station on West Street and the fastest train goes to East Street right across wait for the next train to West Street. You can be and will be penalized.

5) Detours- Scary but Quick vs. Peaceful while Slow. It is only common sense to take the quick one because hey, you signed up for the race knowing full well you were going to have to face some fears if you want to win.

6) Appreciate the Trip- This may be your only opportunity to see the world, and don't waste it saying how much you'd like to be at home on the recliner. Insulting host countries is not the best way to be popular or endearing. Respect everyone around you and your surroundings.

7) HAVE FUN WITH IT! Realize that it is just a game, but it gives you the chance to experience the world!

8)Stressing out- This is a rule that all racers break at certain times. Stressing out will not help you get to the pit stop or the clue locations, stressing out will only make things worse.

9) Keep up with your Race Pack! - Losing your passports, money and clues will cause you serious problems. Put your clues into your fanny pack until you get a new one.

10)Before you go on the Race:

Learn how to drive a stick shift car
Watch the show. Duh. (So many contestants act like they have never seen it!)
Understand that in the first legs all you have to do is not be last. Don't expend all your energy getting to the airport first in the first five minutes of the Race.
Stop saying you are going to depend on your good looks to win the race. Sweetie, you are going to look like hell half way through the first leg, and for the rest of the Race!
Stop saying you are going to flirt your way to the top. You are not good-looking enough for that to work. No, really. You're not.
Learn to read a map.

11) Do not molest Phil.-We do not like that. Hands off the Phil.

12) Respect karma. -Treat others as you would have them treat you. If you treat others badly, it will come back and get back at you..

13) Use of profane, offensive, threatening, or intimidating language during taping towards another team, player, the host, producers, or any other production staff member for any reason can & probably will result in a race misconduct/suspension.

14) Fighting with or provoking another player, team, host, producers or production staff to engage in such will be subject to suspension. Any player or team who under any circumstances commits an assault on producers, the host, other teams, or players may be subject to, amongst other things, suspension, and/or detainment by foreign law enforcement officials, thereby resulting in extradition back to the U.S. by FBI officials, and any law enforcement officer from that individual's hometown can & will incarcerate the individual until that player stands trial to face such charges brought against him/her by another player, team, producers or host.

15) Destruction of producer's/host's property, or team's/player's baggage (including backpacks), stealing/swapping another player's/team's cash, credit cards, clue envelopes, Fast Forwards cannot & will not be tolerated! If a player/team violates this rule, that team may be expelled/escorted from the show automatically and a race misconduct!

Pit Stops:
Teams check into a location at the end of a leg or a race called a pit stop where they can eat, sleep, and mingle with the other teams. Once teams check in they have a limited amount of time, usually 12 hours, to rest before the next leg of the race. There have been exceptions to this in previous seasons, due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Money:
Teams have been given money at the start of each leg of the race. The range of money can go from 0 to more than $100 U.S.

Booking Flights:
Teams are given a credit card before the race to buy tickets to their next destination. They must purchase economy tickets; however, they may be freely upgraded to business class if allowed by the airline.

The Mat (at the Pit Stop):
The Mat is the sign of the pit stop for each leg of the race with a picture of the world along with red, yellow, and black stripes.

DETOUR:

A choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons.

PITSTOP:

The final destination for each leg of a race, at which point a Team must "check in." The last Team to arrive at most PIT STOPs is usually eliminated from the race. A Team generally will leave the PIT STOP 12 hours after they check in; for instance, a Team that clocks in at 9 am will leave at 9 pm.

FAST FORWARD

Two pre-determined legs have one FAST FORWARD, which allows the Team that completes the FAST FORWARD task first to proceed directly to the next PIT STOP without having to do any further tasks, including DETOURs or ROADBLOCKs, on the way. The trick is that only the first Team to find and complete the FAST FORWARD on the leg may use it; any subsequent Team that finds it will have wasted their time and must go back and complete all tasks.

ROADBLOCK

A task in which only one member of the two-person Team may participate; in most cases, the non-participant must wait for the participant to complete the task.

ROUTE MARKER

A red and yellow flag that marks the location of further instructions.

YIELD

Two or more pre-determined legs of the Race have a Yield. Teams must stop at the yield location to do two things before continuing along the course: 1) They must check to see if they have been yielded by another team; 2) If no Team has been yielded, they must decide whether to use the yield or not. If a Team is yielded, they must turn over the hourglass and wait until all the sand runs out before they may continue with the race. A Team may use the yield to stop another Team only once throughout the entire course of the race. However, there is no limit to the number of times that a Team can be yielded by the other Teams. The yield was featured in season 5-11.

INTERSECTION

One pre-determined leg of the Race has a cluebox with an Intersection sign above it. An Intersection is a clue in which two teams have to work together until further notice. During that time, they must perform all tasks and race alongside each other until they get notice that the Intersection is no longer in place. The Intersection was featured in Season 10 and All-Stars.

U-TURN

Two pre-determined legs of the Race have a U-turn. Teams must stop at the U-turn location to do two things before continuing along the course: 1) They must check to see if they have
been U-turned by another team; 2) If no Team has been U-turned, they must decide whether to use it or not. If a Team is U-turned, they must go back and complete the other Detour option they did not previously complete. A Team may use the U-turn only once throughout the entire course of the race. However, there is no limit to the number of times that a Team can be U-turned by the other Teams. The U-turn replaced the Yield in Season 12.

SPEED BUMP

The Speed Bump is a penalty task for the team that finishes last on a non-elimination leg. On the next leg of the race this team alone must complete an extra task. This extra task may be found at any point during the next leg and is found at a yellow Speed Bump sign with the team's picture on it. Once the team has completed the Speed Bump task they can continue the regular tasks of the leg. The U-turn replaced the old non-elimination penalty in Season 12.
