If you go south from Puerto Montt, you will be in some of the most pristine areas in the world. Puerto Montt is easy to get to and there are many places to stay that are reasonable. Some are spectacular.

Do's and Don'ts: Look at the sky. Patagonia's skies are amazing. See Volcan Osorno and raft the Petrohue. Try the fish market in Puerto Montt and the shops on the way there for souvenirs. Horseback riding is also a good bet. Stay at Quinta del Lago just north of Puerto Varas. It is central and has amazing views. Food is good, fruits and fish especially. There is a lot to explore in the area. Chiloe is a large island nearby with an interesting history and parks. Can cross into Argentina by bus or by Lakes Crossing which is a combination of boats and buses through rugged areas where no lives!!
