General:

• The Race spans only 30,000 miles in 21 days, making it the shortest Amazing Race course since Season 8.
• 15 of the 22 racers live in California. Host Bertram Van Munster said that this was coincidental.
• This is the first time that the Finish Line is located outside the Continental United States.
• Ronald & Christina ranked as the Asian team with the best overall leg by leg placings ever on the Amazing Race, and also the first parent/child team to make it into the Final 3 and finish in second place.
• Nicholas & Donald are the first grandfather-grandson team to take part in the race, make it to the Final 3 and finish 3rd.
  

Pre-Race:

• Nicolas and Donald are, respectively, the son and father-in-law of singer Robbie Fulks.
• Shana Wall was the on-and-off girlfriend of TV personality Ryan Seacrest.
• Kynt had applied for 'Survivor' once before applying for The Amazing Race with Vyxsin.

In-Race:

• While some Detours have gone unaired or been featured as regular tasks, Leg 1 is the first leg ever in the Race that didn't include a Detour.
• In Leg 3, there was a five-team footrace creating a moment when all five teams were standing on the mat. The most teams on the mat at any one time before this point occurred in Season 4 (Leg 1) and Season 9 (Leg 9) both with 3 teams on the mat.
• Julia and Lorena took about 4 hours to compete the Roadblock in Leg 3.
• Leg 4 was the introduction of the U-Turn into The Amazing Race.
• There according to Shana & Jennifer, was an unused Fast Forward on Leg 5.
• In Leg 7 when Kynt & Vyxsin finished last, Phil told them it was a non-elimination leg and introduced the new Speed Bump penalty.
• In Leg 8 Kynt & Vyxsin used the U-Turn on Nicolas & Donald. However, Nicolas & Donald had already passed the U-turn and it therefore had no effect on them. This was the first time this has happened.

• In Leg 11, Donald (of Nicolas & Donald) became the oldest person to ever finish the race.

Post-Race

• In an interview, Kate revealed that Staella, TK, Rachel and Nathan all went to the same high school in Fountain Valley, California.
