Season 11 TriviaThis is a featured page

Records and similar items specifically related to teams having appeared twice on the show ("career records") are not considered in these lists.

General:
  • Eric & Danielle (Season 9) are the only all-stars who did not previously race together as a team on their season, though they did race against each other's respective teams; they met during the race and later started dating.
  • Colin Guinn & Christie Lee Woods (Season 5) were expected to be in the All-Star edition, but could not participate because Christie became pregnant.
  • Phil Keoghan was asked to submit a list of 15 teams that he thought should return. Ten of them were chosen. The one he didn't choose was Eric & Danielle. He said, "I didn't think of that new combination, which actually is a really good one."
  • Although this season visited only three new countries (Ecuador, Mozambique, and Poland), several new outlying dependencies of previously visited countries were visited, including Tierra del Fuego (Chile & Argentina), Zanzibar (Tanzania), Macau (China), and Guam (United States).

Pre-Race:

  • Joe & Bill had to pull out of the Return of the Racers blog and a weekly live show TV session on BuddyTV during The Amazing Race 10 to participate in this season.
  • In an online interview at CBS.com, Jill cited Wikipedia as one of the sources she and John Vito used to read up on former races and racers before embarking on this Race.
  • Dustin & Kandice were not available for media interviews, including The Early Show and Finish Line, after their elimination from Season 10 due to their participation in this season. David & Mary, also from Season 10, were able to participate in media interviews as their elimination did not interfere with the taping of this season.
  • Shortly after filming of the Race completed, approximately late December 2006, a detailed boot-list spoiler surfaced and quickly circulated among several Internet discussion boards. The list showed a completely accurate elimination order, including the exact order of finish for the final three teams. While the source of this spoiler is unknown, one or more members of the production crew or cast could have leaked the information. Pitstop and finish line locations are reportedly well guarded and secured from public interference, and production crew as well as cast members are legally bound to keep all elimination and finish information a tight secret.

Trivia from seasons 1-12 - Amazing Race

In-Race:

  • Chip Arndt, the winner of Season 4, ran into racers Charla & Mirna and Teri & Ian on Leg 1 at Miami International Airport. Chip was given permission to report his sightings but to not give any specific names on CBS's Return of the Racers blog.
  • In Leg 1, Mary wore a shirt saying "Missing" in reference to their allies The Cho Brothers (Erwin & Godwin) from Season 10. Later on, in Leg 2, David wore a shirt saying "Lost" with a picture of Phil on it; these same shirts had also been worn by Erwin & Godwin.
  • At the end of Leg 2, Kevin & Drew protested their elimination, claiming that other teams had broken the leg's rules regarding speed limits while they were driving through Chile. The rules of the leg stated that teams had to drive 40 kilometers per hour during a specific stretch of road, and that they were allowed to increase their speed to 50 kilometers an hour when they were past this area. According to Uchenna & Joyce, the other teams were forced to wait outside in sweltering heat for almost six hours while all of the tapes were reviewed and the final results were confirmed; this time period was also included in the standard 12-hour break between legs, and the remaining nine teams thus had much less time than usual to recharge before Leg 3 began.
  • The website for the show mentions that in Leg 3, two teams (Uchenna & Joyce and Rob & Amber) attempted the 40-foot (12 m) climb part of the Detour and switched tasks, the switch isn't aired in the episode.
  • The Roadblock in Leg 4 required one team member to find one of two letters addressed to their team, written by one of the other teams from their season. The two letters for each team would actually come from different teams instead of the same one in both letters. Past racers involved in writing the letters for the All-Star teams had also written letters for the teams eliminated prior to the leg.
  • In Leg 6, for the first time since its introduction, there was no "location indicator" at the pit stop due to the fact that the pit stop location had to be changed mid-leg
  • While no Roadblock was shown in Leg 7, a Roadblock clue is visible in Eric's and particularly Bill's hands respectively near the middle of the extended episode. This Roadblock involved rowing a rowboat on a reflecting pond outside the palace. It was likely edited out because it did not affect the final placement of teams. Kandice holding on to a life-jacket while reading the clue to the Pit Stop and Danny checking in with a life-jacket on also proves this point. In Leg 12, Eric mentioned that he had used up all his Roadblocks (6 aired) at this point which implies that the limitation of 6 Roadblocks per team member (implemented in Seasons 6, 7 and 9) also applies in All-Stars.
  • At the end of Leg 8, Oswald & Danny and Uchenna & Joyce, as a result of an Intersection and Fast Forward, checked in together, even though ties were abolished after Season 4. They both arrived first, but were told that only one prize would be awarded, and that the teams would have to decide which team got the prize. Oswald & Danny decided to give it to Uchenna & Joyce. Both teams also departed at the same time in Leg 9. In seasons up through Season 4, all tied first place teams received a prize; in all subsequent seasons, ties were forbidden and teams arriving at the same time would be split by one minute intervals when starting the next leg.
  • During Leg 9 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a local citizen spotted and photographed four of the five remaining teams at the Batu Caves. The photos were posted within a few days at 'Survivor Sucks', an Amazing Race fansite. This local also assisted Mirna on the Roadblock later that day. Uchenna & Joyce were the only team not photographed due to a missed flight connection that puts them hours behind.
  • On Leg 9, having fallen so far behind the other teams and it being an elimination leg, Uchenna & Joyce appeared to be directed to the Pit Stop from their first Route Marker in Malaysia; thus they were shown skipping the Detour and Roadblock. However, according to Uchenna, they had performed all the tasks, but none were aired.
  • The roadblock in Leg 11, a jump from Macau Tower's observation deck, is billed as the highest skyjump in the world (233 m). According to Phil Keoghan, this was the highest jump in The Amazing Race history.
  • It was revealed by Mirna that there was an unaired Roadblock in Leg 13 in Hawaii that involved free fall cliff jumping into the ocean. Mirna also noted that a task in San Francisco to find a house where the Grateful Dead lived was also edited out.

Post-Race:

  • CBS announced on February 15, 2007 that eliminated contestants had been videotaped living together in a common house in their sequester location in Acapulco, Mexico with the results edited into a 13-episode series entitled Elimination Station. The series, viewable only in the United States, was made available on the Innertube video streaming service on the CBS website, with a new episode debuting immediately following the airing of each new Amazing Race episode in the Pacific time zone this season.
  • Eric & Danielle said in their interview on "The Finish Line" on CBS.com that they are no longer dating due to the fact they live too far apart, and are now just friends.
  • Kevin, currently married, is a father to triplets.
  • Charla and her husband are currently expecting their first child.
