 Episode Recap:We're introduced to the teams, and I wonder why some of the teams don't have where they're from announced (could it be because 6 of them are from Southern California and closer to actors than contestants?). As always AR provides us contestants who are truly a cross-section of America (not!), and, isn't Shana Ryan Secrest's ex-girlfriend? Anyway, Phil gathers 'em up, tells them to be safe and the world is waiting and then the obligatory rush to their bags to get their clues. We next see one of the 6 SoCal teams bragging that they know the way to the airport. Hello! If you knew the way to the airport in Timbuktu, that might help you, but, puhllease - this is America. I think the teams will find it. Anyway, usually when we see marked airport lines like this one, we have been previously alerted that there are "2 flights, British Airways leaves at 12:45 and arrives one hour earlier than the Aer Lingus flight, but only 6 teams can take this flight." We're totally left to figure this out on our own this time. Anyway, the first group gets on the earlier arriving BA flight, we break to commercial and when we return, we find that the BA flight is delayed (was it delayed in LA or London??) Seems we lost a chance at air travel drama there....but, then we see the Aer Lingus teams arriving in Shannon, Ari and Staella foreshadow their future by stealing Ronald and Christina's cab, and teams start their journey which ultimately is going to lead to choosing a time to go on a ferry ride the next day at 8, 8:30, or 9 am (I think). Interesting that none of the AL teams, who should think they're in the back, ever seem to show any concern. Day 2 dawns with teams on a ferry, getting a clue directing them to the roadblock location, which, I must agree, was a pretty cool bike over water thing, with their partner suspended beneath them. Didn't seem physically difficult, but challenging mentally. I wonder what happened getting to the Roadblock, because it looked like teams were equalizing, despite the wide spread of times. Did some of the lead pack teams get lost? After the RB was a donkey task, where the teams had to load 15 peat sticks into a bag on the donkey and lead the donkey to his hitching post, where they would receive the clue to the pit stop. Anyway, the donkeys delivered some karma of their own, seriously messing up Jennifer and Nathan, and Ari and Staella, who were about as rude to the poor creatures as I've ever seen. Ari and Staella paid for their rudeness at the airport and with the donkey by being eliminated! However, Azaria and Hendekea won coming from near the back of the pack, with the Goth's in second. I think both of these teams will do well. AR is all about who gets along, and these two teams seem to both work well together. I thought Kynt and Vyxsin were strange (they ARE like cartoon characters), but, they really do seem to understand the game and they do get along. I expect to see much more from them. |

 Roadblock: In this Roadblock, one Team member had to choose a high-wire bicycle and ride it across a wind swept ravine suspended almost 200 feet above the North Atlantic while their partner, sitting eight feet below, was taken for the ride. TK, Vyxsin, Nathan, Azaria, Staella, Jason, Nicolas, Ron, Marianna, Kate, and Jennifer (of Shanna & Jennifer) performed the Roadblock. |
| Best use of strategy: Azaria and Hendekea got an edge by checking out destination on the computer while in the airport and arranging a taxi to be on standby when they landed in Ireland. Kudos to the siblings. Schemers: Ari and Staella stole Ronald and Christina's taxi. Helpers: Azaria and Hendekea. They arranged for a taxi for the Ronald & Christina. Biggest comeback: Shana & Jennifer. They went from last (before the high wire bicycle) to 6th after passing Ari & Staella, Nathan & Jennifer, Marianna & Julia, Kate & Pat and Ronald & Christina. |

Hey everyone! You may remember seeing me on the wiki from The Amazing Race: All-Stars, I'm also on the wiki and message boards for Survivor: China. I'm here once again to give my commentary on every episode. I'm ready to kick off another season of teams racing around the world to compete for the million bucks.
It definitely seems like an interesting group of teams this time around. I don't have a clear cut favorite yet, but I bet I will soon. The first destination is Ireland to start off in a big way. Definitely some impressions are all ready being made about other teams. I can definitely say that I wasn't fond of Ari & Staella. It's probably because they stole Ronald & Christina's taxi. But boy, would karma come and bite them back soon. The Roadblock looked like a lot of fun as well. I would do it, even though I'd be scared. Ari & Staella and Nathan & Jennifer definitely had the most issues with trying to navigate their donkeys. At this point, I really thought Nathan & Jennifer would be done for. Soon teams who were in the back suddenly went to the front of the pack and Nathan & Jennifer just barely survived to go another leg. Unfortunately, the race came to an end for Ari & Staella. Like I said, karma definitely came back around to bite them back. I'm very excited to have another race underway and follow it with the rest of you. See you next week! |
