After a whirlwind trip around the world in 21 days, Amazing Race 15 (aka The Meghan and Cheyne Show) comes to close in a seriously predictable finale. Twenty-three year old couple-since-grade-school, Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney took the $1 million prize money in what most of us would call a complete blow-out.
Though it may have seemed that there may have been a fighting chance for either Brian and Ericka or Sam and Dan at some point during the episode, don't fool yourself -- that's simply called editing!

"In our minds, we've already won," says Cheyne in a CBS interview. Ahem, in my mind, you've already won too. Sure, we're down to the final three couples in the Amazing Race, but as far as I'm concerned, they've won the vast majority of the race by legs and the last should be no different.
I mean seriously, do any of you think any of these other couples are any sort of competition for Meghan (oh yeah, and Cheyne)?

In last night's episode of the Amazing Race, we said a fond farewell to Globetrotter duo, Flight Time and Big Easy. With their free-wheelin', care-free, though sometimes Survivor-style ethics, this team said goodbye with a spirit of graciousness and respect that all of us should admire.

"Big Brother"-"Amazing Race" Crossover?

There's only another episode of "The Amazing Race" left, so of course our thoughts begin to drift to season 16. A traveler at LAX took a picture of "Big Brother 11" winner Jordan Lloyd and her boyfriend, Jeff Schroeder, whom she met on the show.
In the picture the couple wears matching shirts and large backpacks -- sound familiar? Apparently there were also cameramen around and other possible teams hanging around. If this was a CBS reality show crossover, it wouldn't be the first time for "The Amazing Race." In season 5 of "TAR," a Big Brother contestant, Allison from season 4, and her boyfriend got only to the second leg of the race before they were eliminated. More notably, Rob and Amber from "Survivor" made it to the final 4 in "The Amazing Race 7."
What do you think of stars from other reality shows appearing on "TAR"?

While navigating the rope course in Prague, brother team Sam and Dan gained some time on husband and wife team Brian and Ericka by stealing a cab that was waiting to the spouses away after completing the rope course.
Though Brian and Ericka would have most certainly come in last place regardless of the cab theft, what did you think about Sam and Dan's great cab heist? Though high moral standards are clearly not part of the rule book in reality show Survivor, what is the moral rubric in The Amazing Race? What did you think about Sam and Dan's great cab heist and would you have done the same for a chance at a million dollars?

After tonight's episode (11-29) the brothers have crossed the line of morality for the last time. It is a race for a million dollars but they have played dirty too many times. They argue like a two year olds. They do not deserve to win the million dollars. Hey brothers, every heard of karma? All your dirty moves are going to come back and bite you in the a__ in the finally.

Since last night's episode was a non-elimination leg of the race, husband and wife team, Brian and Ericka are still in the game, along with brothers, Sam and Dan, long-time couple Meghan and Cheyne, and professional sports co-horts, Flight Time and Big Easy.
It's interesting that the last four duos all have different relationship dynamics going on, from spouses, to sibs, to team mates. For example, we see the relationship politics popping out from back-seat-of-the-car type brotherly bickering from Sam and Dan, to nagging-spouse syndrome from Ericka.
It's got me thinking...If I were in the race, who would I choose for my partner? Husband? Na. Sibling? Na. Co-worker? Na. Who? Who would it be?
Has it got you thinking? Who would you chose for your Amazing Race partner?

I noticed recently on Dr. Oz they performed a little competition, a la Amazing Race, as part of their Ultimate Health Challenge. I like that the show has become so ubiquitous that other shows imitate the style. It was hard to watch though because it wasn't done as well.
Did you see the Dr. Oz challenge in which Bob held a competition where the competitors raced around the city based on clues?
What do you think of shows copying the Amazing Race style?
I wonder which show is going to imitate Amazing Race next. Better yet, I wonder which show I want to copy the style. Can you imagine Amazing Race meets CSI?

I have a theory. To make it onto one of these reality TV shows, you gotta be a character. And by that, I mean you've either got to be either seriously flawed (*cough* Mika *cough*) or have a big personality. This season's Globetrotting duo of Flight Time and Big Easy just exudes personality. Heck, they don't even have actual names!

Am I wrongGary and Matt, Amazing Race 15, or did we all know that it was just a matter of time before the quirky father and son team of Gary and Matt were eliminated from the race? Last night's episode seemed to prove that destiny was just out to get them.
On last night's episode, having been saved from elimination the prior week, the look-alike-yet-not-very-look-alike team also lost some time by way of a special speed bump, where Matt was obviously smitten by a young blonde in the Sauna Bus. Of course it didn't help much either when Matt couldn't figure out what a candelabra was, and the two were rather comical as they failed to spot the obvious clue box at their next stop.
Sigh. In the end, I think Gary and Matt also exceeded their expectations in the race, both entering not so much to win, but to spend time together and bond. On that level, Gary and Matt were a big success!

Ever wonder what goes on after a team is eliminated from The Amazing Race? After each episode, CBS airs an "Elimination Station" video clip where ousted members learn who's coming next. It's a chance to see the contestants with their hair down and get a real sense of the group's nitty gritty on the most recently eliminated duo.

In a frustrating-to-watch episode of the Amazing Race, the only all-female team of Season 15, Maria and Tiffany, quit the competition after a series of back and forth and back and forth choices.
During the challenge portion of the episode, the "femme-fatal" duo chose dance over game but were unable to make it pass the high striker carnival game. However, them swingin' arms were needed once again when they went over to a Dutch version of golf (complete with wooden clog). Unsuccessful at farmers golf, Maria and Tiffany went back to the high striker and forth again to golf to simply strike out.

Last season's TAR winner, Victor Jih, has been blogging about this year's Race over at RealityWanted.com. I love reading previous players' comments because they have so much insight into the current teams' experiences.
This week he touched upon the always controversial topic of religion, and mentions that he was surprised that when Mika and Canaan were faced with the water slide challenge last week, they weren't shown praying (considering they'd been depicted as devoutly Christian). Victor reveals that his and Tammy's mother asked them to pray every day while they were on the race, and they heeded her words after their notorious, disastrous third leg in Transylvania. But perhaps for the TAR producers, this aspect of their team wasn't noteworthy.

Herbert and Nathaniel of the Harlem Globetrotters, aka Flight Time and Big Easy, have been paying tribute to the late Chris “Flash” Richardson this season. Richardson played basketball at UNLV.
Flight Time and Big Easy have worn shirts or necklaces with "CLR" on them as they travel around Tokyo, Phnom Penh, and Dubai.
Richardson, 28, passed away in December while on tour with the Globetrotters in Japan. Flash, Big Easy and Flight Time were so tight they were known as “The Three Amigos” among the Globetrotters.
“Hey, no problem,” Nathaniel wrote on his BlackBerry from somewhere in Asia. “Meeting and playing with Chris was special for me. It’s a small hello from us to his family and friends. That was part of why we did the show. Thanks for the e-mail. Much love.”

Around the world, and challenge after challenge, the promise of a million bucks ends with a water slide for Mika and Canaan. Granted, it's no min-golf water slide -- in fact it's a 27.5 meter, near vertical drop that dumps riders at speeds of 50 mph through shark-invested waters, but is it really $1 million scary?
Would you have taken the leap? Even if you would...do you have a limit and what might it be?

RadarOnline is reporting news that almost made me lose my oatmeal this morning -- Jon Gosselin (a.k.a, the most overexposed man in America) plans to meet with CBS about appearing on a celebrity edition of one of the shows. Now, there are many problems with this story:
1) "TAR" has never done a celebrity edition, and though there have been rumors to that effect over the years, I don't know that one is in the works (anyone know differently?).
2) Jon Gosselin has proven that he can't navigate his way around 8 kids and a surly wife; I doubt he could navigate his way around the world.
3) Who would Jon race with? Michael Lohan, under the team heading "bad fathers"? It's hard to imagine his current girlfriend will last long enough to get through shooting.
As you can tell, I'm a little biased against this casting choice and would hope the producers and especially my beloved Phil wouldn't go for it. How do you think Jon would fare on the race? Would you want to see him on "TAR"?

Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan spoke at a Hawaiian convention of human resource professionals last week and talked about his list of life-things-to-do that he came up with after a near-death incident. While scuba diving and exploring a sunken ship, Keoghan became disoriented and couldn't find his way out. However, after he did, he realized the transient nature of life, and came up with these to-dos (which he's already completed, by the way):
* Write a book. Check. Keoghan authored "No Opportunity Wasted." * Eat a classy dinner at the top of a volcano. Check. * Putt a golf ball across Scotland. Check. * Renew his wedding vows under water. Check. * Get a reindeer racing license, Check. * Bicycle across the United States. Check.

Freshly eliminated from the Amazing Race, Lance Layne and Kerri Morrione sat down with TV Guide for an insightful interview about their recent directionless jaunt through Dubai, first off asking, "Are you normally 'directionally challenged' or was it just in Dubai?" Answers Keri, "It was a combination of highways and exhaustion. I normally am directionally challenged and Lance normally isn't."
Lance also admits to kicking the snowman...in fact, decapitating the snowman, "because the lady wouldn't clear us a bunch of times."
Other interesting did-you-knows...Lance and Keri married immediately after filming. Congrats to the well-traveled couple!
