Season 3

Pre-race:

  • Jill and her brother F.T. originally applied for Season 1. Later, her brother was killed in 9/11, and John Vito and Jill applied in remembrance of him.

In race:

  • Heather and Eve were the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop in Portugal on Leg 4, but they misread a clue that told them to walk to the Pit Stop rather than take a taxi. They proceeded to walk the rest of the way, but received a 7 minute time penalty for the advantage gained (the 2nd team arrived 7 minutes later), plus an additional 30 minutes. Since all teams arrived less than 37 minutes apart, Heather and Eve were the first team ever to arrive first and be eliminated. Heather & Eve later whined in interviews that one of the production crew traveling with them told them it was OK to take the cab, leaving out the fact that even if they hadn't lied, they still ignored the clue and cheated in an attempt to get further in the race before it backfired and they were justly told to go away.
  • Andre and Damon were officially detained in Leg 6, when their taxi took them far out of the way in Morocco and they encountered a local official who wanted to seize their passports. Andre and Damon refused, and The Amazing Race's security team had to come help them out of the situation.
  • In Leg 7, Andre & Damon, already in last, upon arrival at the Detour, received a clue instructing them to go directly to the Pit Stop. At the Pit Stop, they returned the dollar they received at the start of the leg to Phil and said that they did not need it.
  • On Leg 11 in Vietnam, all route markers were solid yellow instead of red and yellow. This was done to avoid confusion with the former South Vietnamese national flag, which is also red and yellow.
  • In the opening interview on the premiere episode for All-Stars, Ian claimed that they were less than 2 minutes behind Flo & Zach at the finish line.

Post race:

  • After the race, John Vito and Jill hosted a show that promoted Singapore tourism.
  • Zach Behr (of Flo & Zach) worked on NBC's production crew for the 2004 Summer Olympics
  • Aaron Goldschmidt (of Aaron & Arianne) accidentally stumbled upon one of the Pit Stops of Season 6 while backpacking in Europe.
  • Flo and Drew got together romantically and are still going out with each other. They declined to race in the All Stars because Flo thought the race brought out the worst in her, and also because she did not want to do the race without Zach (who was not asked to join All Stars).
  • John Vito & Jill and Teri & Ian were selected to race in The Amazing Race All-Stars. Teri & Ian received a letter from Flo & Zach during the mail-sorting Roadblock in Leg 4. To the surprise of viewers who remembered the chilly interaction between the top two teams on TAR3, the letter was very friendly and positive and Teri in particular expressed a great deal of happiness that it came from Flo & Zach.
  • Michael & Kathy got married in Italy.
