Still Unfinished - More To Come

Description of my trip:

Our group, and some people we made friends with in Heathrow Airport - London, EnglandIt was a trip with a bunch of friends from high-school, the week after graduation. The trip was organized through a travel agency, so it wasn't quite a backpacking adventure. We stayed in each city for a couple, to a few days, visiting the landmarks and hot-spots, then going our separate ways and meeting back for meals. We traveled between and through countries on planes, trains, and buses.

Well here's a basic outline of my trip: Departure: July 3, 2006

We left via Air France from Detroit International Airport >>> Heathrow International Airport in London, England, with a connection in Paris, France. The entire flight was 9 hours.

London

London

Piccadilly Circus - London, EnglandWe stayed a few days in London, in an older, white-brick with gold lettering (I can't remember the name) hotel in the west end, near Piccadilly Circus. On the first day, we went to the landmarks: churches, cathedrals, parks, and my favourite - Buckingham Palace. On the next day, we were able to go our separate ways, and I went with a few people around the city, using the subway and bus systems. I don't know why, but only one person wanted to go with me on the London Eye (The Millennium Wheel). Probably because it cost about $30 USD (BTW - It was awesome). On the final night, a few of us went to a nearby bar, and watched a world cup game (Portugal vs. ??? - England had already been kicked out).

Paris

Paris

The Moulin Rouge - Paris, FranceWe stayed in a similar hotel in Paris. We spent the first day together going through the Louvre museum. It was amazing, but a day is not enough time to consume its grandness. It's said that it would take months just to catch a glimpse of every piece of art.

-- When I went to see the Mona Lisa, there were about 100 people crowding around it, waiting to catch a glimpse. When I was about four people deep from the front, I took a picture, thinking that the flash was off. The flash was still on when I took the photograph, so I quickly hid the camera in my pocket. The people around me saw me take the picture, and I saw a few of them laughing and snickering when the security guards gathered around us to find out who took the picture. Thankfully, they didn't point me out (Pictures are forbidden wherever there is valuable art, since light can damage it). --

On the next day, we visited the rest of the landmarks: we went up the Eiffel Tower, inside churches and cathedrals, around the Arch de Triumph, etc... On the final day, we went around the city using the subway, and we just hung out (there wasn't anything going on nearby at the time).
